Description
1840-1850 octagonal form flow blue ironstone transfer printed AMOY pattern Teapot made by the Davenport pottery in Staffordshire, England. Pot in very good condition with no cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration. Top has small chip and restuck finial. Impressed Davenport mark with AMOY transfer on the bottom. Measurements are : top to bottom 10", tip of spout to tip of handle 10", diameter at mid section 6 1/2". The photos were taken in bright late afternoon sunlight and make it appear as though the body of the teapot is brilliant white. In person, however, it is a little darker with a mellow grayish bluish tone to the glaze. If you are a flow blue collector, i'm sure you know what I am talking about. I only mention this because I mainly sell prints and paintings, know nothing about flow blue, am selling this for a friend in a nursing home, and I do not want to have any returns.
