    Kwikset's Key Control Deadbolt is a revolutionary cost and time-saving alternative to master keying. The top concealed cylinder provides one-key control for the property manager, while the lower exposed cylinder allows unique user keys for tenants. Now you can retain your one-key access to all units and gain more flexible key management, all while saving time and money.
    What is a Key Control Deadbolt
    User or tenant cylinder is on the bottom of the deadbolt.
    Cylinder cap can be rotated with the SmartKey Learn Tool to move to the upper cylinder.
    The control cylinder or the property manager cylinder can now be accessed from the top.
    The Kwikset Key Control Deadbolt comes with two different cylinders that can be re-keyed with Kwikset SmartKey Tool without having to remove the deadbolt from the door.
    How to use the Key Control Deadbolt
    No need to re-key a traditional master key system with the Kwikset Key Control Deadbolt. The Key Control Deadbolt has two cylinders inside and is the ideal solution for multi-family homes and rental properties which require one-key access to all units.
    The lower exposed cylinder allows unique user keys for the tenants while the upper cylinder is the property manager cylinder.
    Use the SmartKey learn tool to rotate the cylinder cap to access the control or property manager cylinder. You can re-key the property manager cylinder as well as the user cylinder.
    Step 3
    A) Fully insert your new key into the lock and rotate it 180 degrees.
    B) Rotate the new key 90 degrees back to the starting position, and remove it. Your lock is now re-keyed to your new key, and your old key will no longer operate the lock.
