Vintage William J. Burns International Detective Agency Guard/Security Jacket

Description

Vintage Burns Security jacket.  The jacket is in very good preowned condition for its age. Appears to need cleaning. I'll leave that to the new owner. Please see pics. Inside jacket tag "Made Expressly For WM. J. Burns I.D.A. INC. By Caleb V. Smith & Sons 120 East 23rd Street New York Polyester Wool Dry Clean Only. The jacket has the BURNS a security patch on each upper arm. There are 4 buttons and they are all attached. On the buttons is "W.M.J. BURNS I.D.A. INC." The jacket is made of wool and has a polyester quilted lining.
William J. Burns founded the William J. Burns International Detective Agency.  He had two sons, Raymond J. and W. Sherman. When he died, his sons started the process of changing the agency from a general detective agency to an agency that specialized in guard services.
